Playworld Pictures is an award-winning production company based in Los Angeles, California, founded by William Garcia, an established producer, director, and cinematographer with over twenty years in the news, documentary, sports, commercial, music video, feature film, and television production industry.
William started his career in news, documentary, and sports. From the ruins of the Soviet empire to the space shuttle launches, he photographed many of the most noteworthy events of the late 20th Century, garnishing him numerous national and regional awards for news and television excellence.
In the music industry, William has directed and filmed with musical legends Lenny Kravitz, Paul McCartney, Enrique Iglesias, Ricky Martin, Michael Jackson, Juanes, Shakira, and Christina Aguilera, to name a few artists.
Playworld Pictures film credits include the critically-acclaimed feature film Loren Cass nominated for The Gotham Independent Film Award, Locarno Leopard Filmmakers of the Present, and Cinevegas Grand Jury Prize. William's work in the Latin American market includes Spanish films Amor Y Frijoles, Mi Verano Con Amanda 3, and the smash hit Quien Paga La Cuenta?, one of the top-grossing films of all time in Honduras. In 2018, he produced Obsession, starring Brad Dourif and Mekhi Phifer, released by Goldwyn Mayer Films, and the web series H8ters for studio Astronauts Wanted/Sony Entertainment and Full Screen Media. His additional credits include Followed, released in 2020 to the world-wide market, distributed by Global Pictures Media and MPI Media Group.
In 2022, Playworld Pictures produced the award-winning feature Samland, presented at the New York Latino Film Festival, sponsored by Warner Media/HBO. The film is distributed by Gravitas Ventures in the U.S. and Canada.
